RTA rolls out 28 initiatives to transform Dubai’s taxi services
New uniforms, in-car air sensors, and advanced monitoring systems redefine passenger comfort and service quality
DUBAI’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recorded remarkable progress in taxi performance, passenger satisfaction, and service quality after implementing 28 key initiatives this year.
The measures cover every aspect of the sector – from drivers and passengers to the franchise companies operating under RTA’s umbrella.
Part of RTA’s ongoing strategy to enhance quality of life in Dubai, the programme aims to deliver safer, more comfortable, and sustainable mobility options. The Authority says it will continue to develop innovative solutions aligned with the emirate’s Smart City vision and the leadership’s aspirations for a world-class transport network.
According to Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, the completion rate for the initiatives reached 89.8% by the end of the third quarter of 2025. He noted that several high-impact projects remain underway as part of the approved plans to strengthen the sector.
How are taxis being upgraded?
Among the standout projects are the deployment of advanced technologies and precision sensors to monitor air quality inside taxis in real time, and enhanced operational tracking systems.

Driver comfort has also been prioritised, with upgraded uniforms designed for Dubai’s climate and expanded allocations to six sets per driver.
Annual reward programmes for both drivers and franchise companies have been launched, valued at over Dh8 million.
What’s next for riders?
Passengers can now enjoy improved interiors as seat fabrics are being replaced with easy-to-clean leather upholstery.
Taxis are also being equipped with air fresheners to ensure a pleasant journey, while trip evaluations are now directly linked to RTA’s central systems to support continuous monitoring and service improvement.
